Customize the Lock Screen

Customize the lock screen and interact with lock screen icons and notifications.

  • Swipe up on the lock screen to unlock the screen. Or, press and hold the fingerprint sensor.
  • Tap twice on a notification to go directly to the related app.
  • Swipe left or right on the notification to remove it.
  • Press and hold a notification to mute or block notifications from the related app. Tap More settings to customize the notification settings.

    If you don't want notification content to appear on the lock screen, go to Settings > Sound & notification > On the lock screen, and then tap Don't show notifications at all.

Set a Screen Lock

Help protect your personal information and help prevent others from using HTC U11 without your permission. Choose to set a screen lock pattern, numeric PIN, or other means of securing your phone. You’ll be asked to unlock the screen every time HTC U11 is turned on or when it’s idle for a certain period of time.

  1. Tap home key > all apps icon > settings app icon Settings > Security.
  2. Tap Screen lock and select a screen lock option.
  3. On the secure startup screen, select whether you want the phone to require the PIN after restarting, and tap Continue.
  4. Set up the screen lock.
  5. Select which notifications to show in the lock screen, and then tap Done.
  6. Tap settings icon next to Screen lock, and then tap Automatically lock phone.
  7. Specify the idle time before the screen is locked.

You can also clear Make pattern visible or Make passwords visible if you don’t want your screen lock to display as you enter it onscreen.

Set up Smart Lock

Set up your phone to detect your face or another trusted device before you can unlock the screen.

  1. Tap home key > all apps icon > settings app icon Settings > Security.
  2. Tap Screen lock, and then select and set up a screen lock.
  • This will be your backup screen lock method to use in case the phone doesn’t recognize you or a trusted device.
  1. On the Security screen, tap Smart Lock.
  2. Confirm your screen lock.
  3. Tap Trusted face and follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. Tap Lock phone after then specify the idle time before the screen is locked.

To help make Smart Lock more reliable and more secure, you can to train HTC U11 to recognize your face in different situations, such as when you’re wearing glasses or sporting a beard.

  • Tap Smart Lock, confirm your screen lock, and then tap Trusted face > Improve face matching. Follow the onscreen instructions.
